We know it can seem like a whirlwind of information that is constantly changing.

Below are several reliable resources that you may find helpful in navigating and overcoming the burden of this pandemic.

COVID-19 Vaccine Announcement

Huron Perth Public Health has recently announced the opening of COVID-19 vaccine administration to all adults 65 years of age and older (born in 1956 or earlier), indigenous people 16 years of age and older, and those 16 years of age or older who have received a transplant, have motor neuron disease, myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis, a haematological malignancy, or kidney disease. In addition, one primary caregiver for an individual with one of the above mentioned medical conditions is now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. As more vaccine becomes available, the groups eligible for vaccine will be expanded. We believe receiving the vaccination is very important and strongly recommend it.

There are two options for booking an appointment:

Online booking is encouraged when possible as phone lines are expected to be very busy. Bookings may close from time to time if available appointments are full. Please be patient and continue to check the Huron Perth Public Health website for details, as more vaccine appointments are added.

It is important to know that you are not FULLY protected from COVID-19 until two weeks after receiving your SECOND dose of vaccine. So, it is necessary that you continue to practice all public health precautions including mask wearing and physical distancing.

There are very few medical reasons for people NOT to receive this vaccine. If you are currently feeling unwell or have symptoms of COVID-19 you should wait to receive your vaccine until you are feeling well. If you are on blood thinners, you CAN receive the vaccine. If you are ACTIVELY receiving treatment for cancer, are immunocompromised, pregnant or breastfeeding, and wish to discuss safety and effectiveness of the vaccine with your healthcare team, please contact your healthcare provider.
